River Wear
This Flood Warning has been issued due a combination of high spring tides and a storm surge following Storm Lilian moving across the North East. The high tide time is forecast at 06:15 on 23/08/2024, however conditions may apply two to four hours either side of the high tide. Flooding is expected at properties including Marine Activities Centre at Wearmouth and properties at White Heugh, Fatfield. After the high tide tomorrow morning‚ the weather is more settled and no further flood warnings are expected for following tides on Friday and Saturday. We are closely monitoring the situation. Please stay away from beaches, promenades, coastal footpaths and roads as the expected large waves and sea spray will be dangerous. Start acting on your flood plan if you have one. This message will be updated by 11:00 AM on 23/08/2024, or as the situation changes.
